Orchards, a suburb of Portland, is located in southern Clark County that extends past I-205 and to the south by the city limits of Vancouver. Orchards is Northeast of downtown Vancouver, close to the Washington - Oregon borders, alongside the Columbia River. What was once farm and timberlands is now a fast growing community replacing the tree groves with large subdivisions and chain stores. Orchards has been given the honor of being listed as one of the best places to live in Washington.
The Orchards community is not lacking parks, there are many neighborhood parks throughout but also larger community parks. Orchards Community Park is a 33 acre park offering walking/jogging trails, open areas for active play, picnic areas that are shaded by the forest and even a rose garden. Hockinson Meadows Community Park is a 240 acre park, offering a dog park, play equipment, sports field and currently in progress is a disc golf course. Most of the neighborhood parks offer what anyone would expect out of a neighborhood park, walking trails, playground equipment, sports fields, etc.

Evergreen Public Schools serves the residents of Orchards providing educational opportunities. According to Greatschools.org, there is a variety of ratings for the schools in Orchards. Dorothy Fox, Skyridge Middle School, Camas High School and Liberty Middle School were given above average ratings of 8/10. Helen Baller Elementary School, Union High School, Grass Valley Elementary and Woodburn Elementary came in close behind with a 7/10 rating. Then on the flip side you have schools such as Pioneer Elementary, Frontier Middle School and Heritage High School all received a below average rating of 3/10.
