Vancouver definitely has many housing options across its best neighborhoods and nearby cities to meet the needs of anyone looking for a home. Single-family homes are one of the most common types of homes found in the area. However, townhomes and condominiums are also options and can be choices for homebuyers looking for affordable neighborhoods. In the more expensive neighborhoods, luxury homes, mansions, and even estates can also be found in Vancouver. The many popular home builders in the area can work with buyers to create the right property for them.

Vancouver has a variety of walkable neighborhoods for those who like living without reliance on cars. With a thriving downtown scene full of unique shops and restaurants, it's a great place to live to get the most out of living in the city.

For those who want to be close to all Vancouver has to offer, there are also plenty of excellent suburbs nearby. Some of them—along with Vancouver itself—have relatively low property taxes and neighborhoods with low HOA fees.

Vancouver Community Amenities

Those who move to Vancouver will find an abundance of outdoor recreation activities. The Columbia River, Vancouver Lake, and other nearby lakes provide opportunities to enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing in the warmer months. Vancouver is also home to eight 18-hole golf courses, with more available in surrounding areas.

Hiking options are available in the many trails of the Cascade Range and Columbia River Gorge. Mt. Hood provides many opportunities to enjoy the beautiful snow-capped mountains to snow ski and snowboard. Mt. St. Helen's is open to climbers that are looking for some adventure with the chance to climb to the crater rim and view the heart of a volcano. There are 113 local parks operated by the Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department within the community and surrounding neighborhoods and five county dog parks.

While Vancouver has plenty of nature for everyone to enjoy, there are also plenty of things to do downtown. Shopping at boutiques or taking in an art gallery are a few of the things that attract visitors to downtown Vancouver. A meal at a restaurant or local eateries with friends or family or dancing the night away at a nightclub gives residents the opportunity to relax and unwind. Esther Short Park offers a summer concert series from July to August, the Vancouver Jazz and Wine Festival, and the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater, which offers music entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Driving in Vancouver is also easy, thanks to its proximity to major highways and freeways.

Residents of Vancouver real estate enjoy the perks of living in Washington while being able to shop tax-free easily in Oregon. They also take advantage of the opportunity to live near Portland International Airport. Plus, the cost of living in Vancouver is more affordable than nearby cities while still having its share of major employers.
