The Alberta Arts District is located in Northeast Portland, not technically recognized as a neighborhood on its own, it is a part of the Concordia, Vernon and King neighborhoods. Alberta Arts District was for a time run down and struggling, it has now been revitalized, brought back to life with a creative touch. Unique shops, restaurants, bars, galleries and best of all the monthly street fair. A very culturally diverse neighborhood creates a melting pot of sorts, allowing residents and visitors opportunities to explore new things from art to food. On Alberta Street, storefronts are found in renovated old buildings bringing out the character of this quirky community. 

The Alberta Street Tour is highly recommended but, make sure that you have on comfortable shoes or a bike to get around. Walking or biking will give guests the opportunity to really see and appreciate all that this community has to offer. Getting outdoors and enjoying nature is not lost on this neighborhood. Alberta Park offers paths, a playground, softball field, tennis court, basketball, an off-leash dog area for your four legged friend and a water feature. Other area parks are Wilshire Park, Grant Park and Fernhill Park offer similar amenities but different scenery. 

Driving by car, downtown Portland only takes about fifteen minutes to get to Alberta Arts District via I-5 and only approximately sixteen minutes to Portland International Airport. TriMet offers public transportation through bus service to conveniently transport passengers to downtown Portland and surrounding areas. Walking and biking is definitely encouraged, when able. 

Schools in Alberta Arts District

Portland Public School District serves the residents of Alberta Arts District with educational opportunities. According to Greatschools.org, Vernon Elementary School, which actually houses grades PK - 8 was given an above average rating of 6/10 and Franklin High School was given an average rating of 5/10.
