The city of La Center contributes to health, both physical and emotionally by promoting play. Their philosophy includes exploring and enjoying life through creative and challenging recreation. However promoting recreational activities to the residents of La Center is not the city's only goal, they also want to preserve open spaces, fish and wildlife. Elmer Soehl Park and Heritage Park are a couple of the smaller parks offering playgrounds and picnic areas. Holley Park offers a splash pad, skate path, baseball, soccer and softball fields, playgrounds, tennis courts and picnic areas. Sternwheeler Park is a popular park with quiet walking trails, art work, gazebo and amphitheater perfect for hosting concerts and weddings.

Residents of La Center are served by the La Center School District. According to Greatschools.org, the La Center schools were all given average or above average ratings. La Center Middle School and La Center High School were both given a rating of 6/10 and La Center Elementary School was given a 5/10. While these schools still have some wiggle room to move upward on the rating scale, these ratings are decent. La Center also has another option, La Center Homeschool Academy which was not rated by Greatschools.org.

Compared to most real estate prices in Washington communities, the real estate prices in La Center are reasonable.
