If you’re looking to sell your home, the first thing you need to do is give us a call here at the Matin Real Estate.  We’re experts at getting property bought and sold here in the Portland & Southwest Washington area.  But until then, let’s talk a little bit about what you can expect once you're ready to list your home.

When you meet with us and sign a listing contract, there are a number of things that have to happen before we can go live.  We don’t just sign the paperwork and go live the next day.  In fact, typically we need at least a week (preferably more) to get everything prepped and ready to go.  This gives you time to get the property looking it’s best.  You’ll want to fix up the exterior, get rid of clutter, clean the carpets, etc. and make sure the house is “photo ready.”  We’ll send our photographer to the property about a week before we go live, to capture all the photo and video we need to market your home.

We believe in doing things the right way from the very start.  This means that we’ve got to create flyers, websites, marketing plans, sales scripts, call lists for prospecting, etc. so that when we go live on Thursday, we can hit the ground running.  We always put our listings live on Thursdays, because we’ve found that to be the most effective time.  People see the listing pop up right before the weekend and they can make an appointment to come see it that weekend while it’s still fresh and exciting.  We’ll also hold open houses the first weekend for that very same reason.  We want to capitalize on the buzz of the new listing.

In the past, it was very common for agents to hold “broker tours” on Tuesdays, but with the ease of viewing property online, these are becoming more and more uncommon.  Now, that doesn’t mean that we won’t hold a broker tour for certain properties, it’s just that we no longer do them for every listing. We’ve found that by using photo and video marketing, across multiple platforms and portals, we can be more effective and show your home to people across the world.

Okay, so that’s all great and you’re excited and ready to sign.  But what about the terms of the contract?  Well frankly, that’s all up to you.  In the end, we work for you so we want to make sure that we’re doing whatever we can to make the process easy.  If you sign with us today, you set the date we go live as far out as you want.  We’ve had clients sign with us and wait six months before going live.  Furthermore, we have a cancel at any time policy because we know how quickly things can change.
