This popular golf course is a favorite venue for private tournaments and is situated near Claggett Creek in western Oregon.

The front of the 11th hole features a small pond, and Claggett Creek enters play on four holes surrounded by beautiful oak trees, fir trees, redwoods, and pines. The signature hole is the 567-yard par-5 18th hole, which goes past trees on the left side and slopes towards the lake on the right side. The course has excellent drainage, making it one of the easiest courses to play during the winter in the Northwest region. A vast sprinkler system keeps the course green all summer long.

This course was once located on the homestead of Charles McNary, a former senator and lawyer who lived in the Willamette Valley until 1944. The course, named in his honor, is suitable for all skill levels from beginner to professional. There are four tee choices with two sets of combination tees to provide different course lengths and difficulty levels.

Salemtowne Golf Club is a 9-hole executive course originally built in 1967 as part of the Salemtowne housing development, a 55 and older community. The course is an integral part of the community and has three sets of tees (blue, white, and red), which offer play for different skill levels. There is also 18-hole play on the course.

Each green is raised and has at least one bunker next to it, with houses lining almost every hole. Overall, this course is a nice, short walk with plenty of trees and beautiful views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson. There is a volunteer-run golf store open most afternoons from noon until 5 p.m. from April through the end of October.

The Golf Committee hosts three two-day holiday tournaments on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day. Additionally, couples’ tournaments take place on two Friday mornings every month. The course also has a clubhouse, a putting green, and a few practice areas for guests to utilize.
