Many people reach out to me to ask how they can get more money from their home improvements but are unsure where they should spend their money. Well, there are two major areas you should focus on: the kitchen and the bathroom. As far as kitchen updates, consider putting in new countertops, refacing cabinets, or replacing cabinets completely. New cabinets will give the space a fresh look. Also, changing older white appliances to sleek stainless steel can give your home a more modern feel. Replacing lighting fixtures is another option. Brightening up a room does a lot to increase its appeal. Therefore, another option to consider is taking out the kitchen’s old, sunken ceiling to open things up and promote natural light. These are all great options for adding value. For bathrooms, you can pull out the old sealed shower and do new tiling instead. Or you can add a new vanity. These ideas are relatively cheap and can still add a lot of value.

While many people want to clean the carpet, removing it altogether and putting in hardwood flooring

may be a better option.

Another update to consider is removing the home’s carpet. While cleaning carpet is a possibility, removing it altogether and putting in hardwood laminate or actual hardwood flooring may be a better option. Before taking on any of these projects, though, I recommend you reach out to me first. Someone from my team can do a walkthrough of your home and show you what will provide the biggest bang for your buck. Nobody wants to spend a lot of money on huge improvements on one area only to find out that they should have added a new roof, siding, or paint. We can help you use your money more effectively to get a better end value as long as we know upfront what you are looking for. If you have any questions about where to update or anything else real estate related, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to assist in any way possible.
