Beaverton’s finer, up-scale neighborhoods. With a low crime rate, great schools, active community participation and clean air and water, Sexton Mountain is a great place to live and work. Beaverton got its name because of the settlement’s proximity to a large pond resulting from beaver dams. Sexton Mountain was originally the home of a Native American tribe known as the Atfalati but by the 19th century, this tribe moved on before English settlers arrived.

Sexton Mountain is an upscale neighborhood located in south Beaverton. This neighborhood has beautiful homes with nice yards and some have stunning views of the mountains. Most homes are larger single family homes, townhomes, condos and even apartments. A quiet, environmentally conscious community with a strong desire to maintain a clean and well kept neighborhood. Sidewalks are available throughout the entire neighborhood; which is good because this is a very active community.
The Sexton Mountain Neighborhood Association Committee was organized with the purpose of maintaining the integrity of the neighborhood and the nature surrounding it. Members are anyone that lives, owns property or represents a nonprofit organization within the neighborhood boundaries. Monthly meetings are held to discuss projects and improvements that would benefit this neighborhood. Most projects that are implemented are completed by Sexton Mountains own residents and volunteers as they are aware of the importance of keeping their community clean and beautiful.

The Sexton Mountain Park offers a variety of recreation opportunities that includes a basketball court, soccer and baseball/softball fields, a playground and paved walking trails throughout. The Hyland Forest Park is a 30 acre park offering a nature play area and trails throughout. This park is filled with beautiful, towering Douglas Fir trees that make bird-watching a popular activity. Hyland Forest Park encourages adults and children to explore the nature around them and up close interaction with nature.
