So I know this place is called Mark Lindsay’s Rock and Roll Cafe. But seriously. Who cares who’s cafe it is. Unless the who is a really really good chef. And in this case. He is not. (Yes, I know who Mark Lindsay is.)
The vast menu was a little overwhelming. There is a Meier and Frank section. Food that used to be served at Meier and Frank, I guess. In that section was Gerry’s Frank. Exactly as he (Gerry Frank) liked it, I guess, with all the fixings. I thought about getting it until my sister said, “You’re going to eat what?” Gerry Frank’s… oh. Yeah. I lost my appetite.

I attended a teleconference class yesterday. Something I have been meaning to do, but just needed to commit the time. I am glad I did. It functioned very much like a class, except I was sitting at my desk which meant I didn’t need to get in my car, deal with traffic, and find parking just to get some great information. A huge time-saver, indeed!

Credit scores (often referred to as FICO scores) are used by lenders and others to assess the credit risk of borrowers or existing customers to help them make credit and marketing decisions. These scores are derived solely from the information available on credit bureau reports. You have three FICO scores, one for each of the three credit bureaus–-Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Each score is based on information the credit bureau keeps on file about you. As this information changes, your credit scores tend to change as well.

Across the nation it’s time to go “back to school.” Some parents are waving to their 5 year old as she navigates, for the first time, the bus steps that are almost as tall as she is. Other parents are unloading the SUV into a 12×12 foot college dorm room which their son will be sharing with one or two strangers. Regardless of what stage in life you’re at, “back to school” probably evokes emotions and unique memories. It’s an American tradition!
Because “back to school” is such a significant time for so many people, most prefer to make their moves during the summer so that they will be settled in their new homes before the academic school year begins. However, regardless of when a move takes place, most parents readily admit that the ease of transition for their children is utmost in their minds. Here are some ways to make a move easier for your child.

The Oregon coast beaches vary tremendously depending on longitude and local culture. Astoria is Oregon’s most northern beach, and its claim to fame is the filming location the “The Goonies” movie; but let’s not we forget the many other pictures filmed in this location, Benji the Hunted, Short Circuit, Come See the Paradise, Kindergarten Cop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III and Free Willy. Astoria is a vibrant, historical town in its own right. See for yourself in the following guide and slideshow.

You won’t want to miss this romantic evening with your sweetie. Are you still there? OK, I’ll tell you more about him, and then you can run out and buy your tickets.

Money in our lives often gets associated with words that we don’t think of as money oriented words. I have offered a teleclass titled “Charge What You Are Worth”. There’s a money word: worth. And we also associate that word as meaning deservedness, esteem, a reflection of our value in the world.

Over the past few years, Roslyn Lake, which is located outside of Sandy Oregon (about 30 miles east of Portland) has been the subject of local controversy. In 2001, the decision was made by Portland General Electric to demolish the two dams that supply the lake, thereby eliminating it. The lake has been a family gathering spot for years and years. Here is a slideshow of some timeless moments on the lake.

The smell hits you right when you walk through the gate to the patio. Fried chicken, cornbread, and love that never dies. Bernie’s serves Southern food – and does a good job of making it authentic. I mean I don’t know if you went to a restaurant in the South that you would find beef brisket served with a blueberry sauce, but the point is, you believe it is authentic – every bite is like a hug from your mom – and isn’t that the idea behind Southern food? Or at least the idea behind eating it.

Our historic northeast Portland neighborhoods boast an abundance of well-designed, thoughtfully preserved bungalow homes. Cozy and simple, they sit nestled within the many other historical European Revival and American forms of architecture. In fact, the bungalow seems to dominate our streets. But what exactly is a bungalow? Where did it come from? Why do we have so many of them?

I write about a money question or story each month; this month’s money question is, “How do you go about raising the level of your thinking about money when everyone around you seems duty-bound to keep you “grounded” in their level of thinking?”
