Holiday lights are a wonderful tradition that dates back to the middle of the 17th Century when small candles were attached to trees using wax. Portland has a long standing tradition with Christmas lights starting with Peacock Lane in the 1920’s. The Christmas Ship Display is the oldest in the country with a 53-year history. I have been wanting to eat at Toro Bravo ever since they got Restaurant of the Year in Willamette Week and Chef of the Year in Portland Monthly. So when I realized it was right next door to the Wonder Ballroom where I was attending a concert last Wednesday, it was perfect. Except it was Halloween and they were closed. Boo.

The media loves the idea of a national housing market; but is it realistic? We say no. Although, data can be analyzed to show national trends, those trends do not relate to specific markets. This would be like using the average performance of all children in a school to evaluate an individual child. Every child is unique, and so is every real estate market—even sub-markets in a metropolitan area will perform better than others.
