Across the nation it’s time to go “back to school.” Some parents are waving to their 5 year old as she navigates, for the first time, the bus steps that are almost as tall as she is. I am often asked by out-of-state residents if Portland is dog-friendly; I have a difficult time restraining my laughter. Is Portland dog-friendly? I do believe dog-friendly is an “English understatement” type of description for Portland. According to Dog Fancy, in 2006, Portland had 136,332 dogs living in a city that has roughly 500,000 residents. This magazine also credits Portland with THE Best All-Around City for Dogs in America.
