The New York Times calls Portland, “The city that loves mass transit”. I think they are right.
Portland has one of the most extensive mass transit systems in the United States; plus it is easy to use and economical. If you are visiting Portland you won’t spend all of your time trying to figure out how to get around. Visitors to our area can literally fly into PDX and hop on the MAX train to head downtown.

Across the nation it’s time to go “back to school.” Some parents are waving to their 5 year old as she navigates, for the first time, the bus steps that are almost as tall as she is. I am often asked by out-of-state residents if Portland is dog-friendly; I have a difficult time restraining my laughter. Is Portland dog-friendly? I do believe dog-friendly is an “English understatement” type of description for Portland. According to Dog Fancy, in 2006, Portland had 136,332 dogs living in a city that has roughly 500,000 residents. This magazine also credits Portland with THE Best All-Around City for Dogs in America.

Portland is a large metropolitan area with a network of interstate and local highways. Yes, Portland does have slow rush hour traffic at times; but definitely better than Seattle or Los Angeles. In this month’s Travel and Leisure Magazine, Portland was called American Eden. I never really thought of it like that. But now that they mention it, it does sound nice. It’s funny that they have to make comparisons like: “Northwest 23rd Street, the local equivalent of Rodeo Drive” and “the West Hills, the Portland equivalent of Beverly Hills”.

Portable moving containers are an alternative to full service van line providers. Usually a container is dropped off in your driveway and you have a period of time to pack and load your own belongings.
