Sellwood and Westmoreland Neighborhoods of Portland OR Gaining Family Friendly Distinction

Posted on: May 21, 2007

On talking with friend about the Sellwood–Westmoreland area of Portland, he remarked about how many moms he noticed walking with the little ones in strollers. All ages of residents are riding bikes around the neighborhood and to work. He observed home owners in their yards talking with neighbors or congregating in one of local coffee houses or restaurants. He is right…this older area is metamorphosing into a highly sought after place to live in by young, on the go couples. Homes are being remodeled and updated; and, as the older residents put their homes on the market, they are snatched up in short order. It doesn’t seem to matter that just minutes away they can buy more home for their money. Sellwood and Westmoreland are the places these families choose to live because of the small community lifestyle and close proximity to downtown Portland.
