Plant Trees with SOLV and OMSI on Sat. Oct 27
Posted on: October 04, 2007
This site on the banks of the Willamette is highly impacted by human activity. Despite the impacts to the stream banks, salmon, osprey, geese, coyotes and beaver can all be found in the area– in the heart of downtown Portland.
Himalayan blackberry has taken over large portions of the site: teasel and clematis also can be found. Steep banks prevent volunteers from participating in some parts of the site. The goals of the restoration are to rehabilitate the area on the banks of the Willamette River. Project partners include OMSI, Willamette Riverkeeper, and the City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services.
