Mt Tabor
Located in southeast Portland, the Mt. Tabor neighborhood lies between SE 49th Ave. (SE 50th Ave. south of SE Hawthorne Blvd.) on the west and SE 76th Ave. on the east, and between E Burnside St. on the north and SE Division St. on the south. It borders Sunnyside, Richmond,the Center Neighborhood, Montavilla and South Tabor. Mt Tabor has maintained its charm and character with older cottage and bungalow style homes. Showcasing sweeping views of both the city and the mountains, delivering close proximity to downtown (15 minutes), and sitting right on the cusp of the well know Hawthorne District, Mt Tabor is one of the most sought after neighborhoods on the eastside. Mt Tabor neighborhood surrounds Mt Tabor Park, a 195 acre park, an extinct volcano and one of the city’s most used parks. The park has trails, bike paths, and stands of old growth Douglas Firs and other trees. It includes basketball court, park play area, park restroom, picnic area, dog off-leash area, picnic tables, playground, and tennis court. During the summer, catch a fantastic sun set on downtown and the West Hills from the park. Mt Tabor is a very stable community, and people tend to stay once they move into the area.
