With both affordable and high end homes, great schools known for academics and sports, plus the largest shopping mall on the eastside, Clackamas is a wonderful place for families to call home.

The lower portion of Clackamas or western side, consists mainly of commercial and older homes, many of which are undergoing a transformation.
The main street running though this portion is 82 Ave, which plays host to a variety of businesses including the Clackamas Town Center. The Town Center, the largest mall on the eastside of town, is currently undergoing a major revamp and will contain a huge cineplex, local favorite restaurants, as well as two distinctive “Northwest Metropolitan” design theme, with two new outdoor villages. These villages will flank the existing center with outside storefronts, creating a dynamic street of shops and a pedestrian-friendly shopping environment. Most residence in this area area live in large apartment complexes or smaller ranch style homes situated close to area business.

Traveling up the hill heading east on Sunnyside Road begins the transition from business to residential. Living on top of the hill offers larger newer style homes, many with decent lot size. There are many brand new developments in the Clackamas and Happy Valley area, some of them stately custom homes with specatacular view of Mt Hood. Families will find not only terrific schools, but also a variety of outdoor activities just minutes away. Known as the gateway to Mt Hood, Clackamas residents are close to hiking, biking, river rafting, and snow sports.

As an added bonus, property taxes are usually lower in Clackamas county than in Multnomah county just to the north.
